NEW ORIENT-EXPRESS PACKAGES
New to Planet Rail for 2015 is a range of journeys on the Orient-Express which, together, combine to create a luxury trip of a lifetime. Sit back and indulge in a three course lunch and glass of champagne as the train travels through the Kentish countryside towards Folkestone. Spend two days exploring the famous sites of the romantic city before re-joining the iconic train to weave through the towering Dolomites to Prague. With two nights in Prague there is plenty of time to see the major attractions ahead of the homeward bound journey via Paris.

NEW EUROSTAR SERVICES
With Eurostar introducing year-round direct services from London to Marseille and Lyon from 1 May 2015, Provence and the Mediterranean are now even easier to reach by rail. The new route means passengers can enjoy a cup of tea in London and a Pastis by the Mediterranean only 6 ½ hours later.
Named as a European Capital of Culture last year, Marseille has undergone a facelift in recent years which has seen a revamp of the Old Port, a new tram system put in place and new museums, restaurants, shops and hotels popping up. Much of the appeal of this multicultural port city is that it is surrounded by the Mediterranean and enjoys sunny days for much of the year. Travel by First Class rail to enjoy a 4-night break to discover Marseille’s renaissance, staying at the 4-star Grand Hotel Beauvau, a great base from which to explore. Price: from £549 including return First Class rail from London to Marseille and four nights’ B&B accommodation.
Alternatively, head to Lyon, France’s capital of gastronomy, on a journey taking just under five hours. Sample star chef Paul Bocuse’s three-Michelin-starred restaurant: L’Auberge du Pont de Collonges, or try the city’s famous ‘bouchon’ restaurants: traditional taverns serving typical Lyonnaise cuisine. Explore the city’s sites, perhaps paying a visit to the newly opened science centre and anthropology museum, the Musée des Confluences. Stay at the 4-star Grand Hôtel des Terreaux, a 19th century town house, modernised with innovative décor, ideally located in old Lyon. Price: from £449 including return First Class rail from London to Lyon and four nights’ B&B accommodation. Hotel upgrades available: Sofitel Lyon Bellecour (5 star) from £499 or Hotel Le Royal (4 star) from £575.
Prices are per person based on two sharing.
