Step into the heart of Crete
Stop Daydreaming… and step into the heart of Crete
in London’s Knightsbridge: November 3-9, 2014
The island of Crete, Greece, is a memorable, evocative and wondrous destination. It is no surprise that the diverse landscape, archaeological marvels and warm hospitality create memories that are not easily forgotten.
Despite the long, summer days being far behind us, our imagination doesn’t stop reliving the Cretan memories. Luckily, the daydreaming can come to a halt as signature elements of this Grecian gem are arriving in London for the first time – making the dream, a reality.
An innovative, in-store event will be landing at the National Geographic London Store for an entire week, November 3-9, 2014. From discovering the island’s authentic gastronomy to the hidden ‘insider’ spots, there’s plenty to explore in this full-sensory and interactive experience.
Catering for a range of visitors, from families to independent travellers, the aim of the event is to showcase every inch of the island in various ways. A photo exhibition, titled ‘Rare Glimpses of Crete,’ will be presenting never-before-seen-in-the-UK snapshots of rugged landscapes and indigenous animals.
Everyday during the ‘Cretan takeover’, a different expert will be on hand (4pm-6pm) covering topics from flora and fauna to the ancient and contemporary sites scattered across the destination.
In addition to the insightful talks, daily food tastings will be taking place for passers-by to sample locally sourced products including olives, olive oil and honey as well as signature dishes.
The promotional event, which is free to attend and runs throughout the day, will also give visitors a chance to enter prize draws where they can win a range of authentic foodie treats from Crete!
